Partenaires OR du CPEQ
The totality of the important amendments brought to the Environment Quality Act (EQA) in 2017 came into force on March 23, 2018. New regulations implementing these amendments were recently enacted and published on September 2, 2020.
These are significant legislative amendments changing the environmental rights and obligations of business corporations and individuals. The environmental permitting regime was significantly modified, together with the freedom of information regime, provisions dealing with industrial and trade secrets, documents henceforth required with permit applications, requirements concerning the acceptability of an application, the modification, renewal, and assignment of environmental permits, the new climate test, the new regime applicable in case of spills of hazardous materials and new requirements applicable to certain permit applications such as noise studies and various technical reports which professionals, engineers, agronomists, land surveyors, biologists, etc. will have to prepare.
The main designer and draftsman of the first generation of environmental laws and regulations in Québec, Mtre Jean Piette, will explain in detail these legislative changes during a training session which we will offer during a full day, on October 27, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
